THE shock result came in Division Two where the Eagle fell to their first league defeat of the season, losing 6-3 to a lively Stockton Arms side. Goals from Marc Johnson, Richard Mills and Martin Rogan proved fruitless for the Eagle as an unusually leaky defence let in six with Sam Garvie scoring four times. The other goals came from Christopher Thompson and Stuart Lockey as The Eagle lost the chance to go top of the table.  

Heavyweight boxer Martin Rogan has said that he has no intention of retiring after his second defeat to Sam Sexton in their Commonwealth heavyweight title fight in November. "I definitely want to get back into the ring for the fans because they have shown me so much loyalty and I'd like to show to them that I'm not finished yet," Rogan told UTV. "I'd like to get back into the ring again for next summer, it would easy to walk away, but I'd like to get back in the ring and do it for everyone in Belfast.

This Friday's star-studded boxing bill at the Odyssey Arena will be far from child's play but with only days to go before the big night, Commonwealth title challenger Martin Rogan has compared himself to one of the world's best selling toys – the Rubik's Cube. It takes patience, skill and perseverance to solve the famous mechanical puzzle, invented by Hungarian sculptor Ernő Rubik.  

Team Sexton are aiming for the top after another successful venture into the lion's den that is Martin Rogan's back yard.  

As Martin Rogan weighs up his future, there are growing concerns as to whether he should have been passed to box Commonwealth heavyweight champion Sam Sexton on Friday night.  

Former Belfast cabbie Rogan thought he would have won their first showdown had it not been for a badly swollen eye and he came flying out at the bell in the re-match, backed by a partisan home crowd at the Odyssey Arena. Sexton weathered the storm as Rogan swarmed all over him and in the sixth round the Norwich fighter's superior boxing skills emerged as he delivered one telling blow after another. Rogan, 38, failed to get up for the seventh round and claimed a neck injury had forced him to retire.  

On the Friday Sky Sports double-header from two sites in Northern Ireland, Sam Sexton came out with a much clearer victory over Martin Rogan in their heavyweight rematch, and Paul McCloskey dominated Spaniard Daniel Rasilla to claim the vacant European junior welterweight title.
